The Posse Tiburcio Vasquez (April 11, 1835 - March 19, 1875) was a companion of Anastacio Garcia (who killed our first lighthouse keeper, Charles Layton and thirteen others). The interesting part is that he was considered the 2nd Zoro to the Hispanic population. He claimed his crimes were the result of discrimination by the norteamericanos and was a defender of Mexican-American rights. Geographical features and buildings were named after him.
Stories are never as simple as they appear on the surface.
Mrs. Emily Fish and the 1906 Earthquake The Chinatown referred to in the video was the one in Pacific Grove. It was on the land currently occupied by the Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake many refugees from the San Francisco Chinatown came to Pacific Grove seeking shelter. Not everyone approved of the idea of an enlarged Chinese presence. On the night of the fire, none of the fire hydrants worked. Afterwards none of the residents were allowed back in to search for possessions. However, locals were allowed in to scavenger hunt.
